Veto the Eviction Ban Extension

I remember when everyone said, “Sure, she’s not the greatest candidate but she’s better than the alternative.” Jenny Durkan ran as being the adult in the room. Now that the Council has passed a damaging extension to the eviction ban, will the Mayor prove that she cares about local business? Or will she rubber stamp this measure. Dear Mayor Durkan,

Please veto this legislation. The impacts of COVID-19 are on people's income. As a housing provider I am not interested in evicting my residents. I want to see them get back on their feet if they are struggling. This legislation will create huge delinquencies for some, and encourage others to not pay rent to use money for other critical things. Please urge the Governor and our congressional leaders to get much needed assistance where it needs to go, in the hands of hard hit workers. This legislation could damage my ability to provide housing, increasing my risks and making an uncertain time even more uncertain. Thank you for your consideration.
